March 2025
Women's History Month began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, California. The Education Task Force of the Sonoma County Commission on the Status of Women, planned and executed a “Women’s History Week” celebration in 1978. The movement spread across the country as other communities initiated their own Women’s History Week celebrations the following year. It became a national observance in 1987 when Congress passed Public Law 100-9 to designate March as Women’s History Month.
2025 Theme: “Moving Forward Together!
Women Educating & Inspiring Generations."
This theme is meant to highlight and support women who have dedicated their lives to education, mentorship, and leadership to shape the minds and futures of all generations.

National Nutrition Month is a campaign to focus on making informed food choices and developing healthy eating and physical activity habits. Below are tips on Healthy Eating from the U.S. Department of Agriculture:
Focus on whole fruits. During breakfast, top whole-grain cereal with your favorite fruit, add berries to pancakes, or mix dried fruit into hot oatmeal.
Vary your veggies. Cook a variety of colorful veggies. Use them for a stew, soup, or a pasta dish.
Vary your protein routine by including shrimp, beans, chicken, or beef.
Make half your grains whole grains by adding brown rice to your stir-fry dishes and combining your favorite veggies and protein foods for a nutritious meal.
Move to low-fat or fat-free dairy milk or yogurt; or lactose-free dairy or fortified soy versions.
Drink and eat less added sugars, saturated fat, and sodium.
