November is National Diabetes Month, with today, November 14th, being World’s Diabetes Day.
This is a time when communities across the country seek to bring attention to diabetes.
This year’s focus is on taking action to prevent diabetes health problems.
Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. It affects about 37 million Americans, including adults and youth. Diabetes can damage the eyes, kidneys, nerves, and heart, and it is linked to some types of cancer.
But there’s also good news: Taking charge of your health may help you prevent diabetes health problems.

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month —
According to the White House:
This year, nearly 250,000 Americans will be diagnosed with lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer death in the United States.
During National Lung Cancer Awareness Month, we honor the resilient people who have faced this diagnosis, the loved ones who rally to their side, and the medical professionals who do all they can to help patients survive and heal. There are additional steps each of us can take to reduce the impact of lung cancer in our own lives.
