Duties
Performs, according to standard office procedures, a variety of routine through complex clerical duties requiring a considerable degree of decision and thorough knowledge of the functions of the department or section. Examines documents for correctness; prepares forms and other documents. Compiles various types of statistics and posts and maintains general records. Maintains double-entry books of account; may work with payrolls and pay computation. Receives receipts for municipal services and maintains any number of files and provides information to the public. Requisitions office supplies, does sorting and mailing. Provides moderate to complex working supervision over a small number of employees, transcribes (not to include taking dictation, steno typing, closed microphone, shorthand or speed writing) and provides secretary duties.
Qualifications
Basic knowledge and understanding of Massachusetts General Laws regarding DPW; the ability to respectfully interact with the general public in addressing their business with the department. Proficiency with Word, Excel, and other programs in the Microsoft Office suite. Experience with MUNIS software preferred.
Ability
to perform all of the above functions in both English and Spanish. Provide language assistance as necessary, specifically for Spanish-speaking constituents.
When applicants are substantially similar in terms of qualifications, preference will be given to candidates who have resided in the City of Lynn for a continuous twelve-month period prior to the date of posting.
Employee will perform all duties required of the DPW administration within the Principal Clerk classification.
