Parking During a Snow Emergency

No vehicles may park on a public street or sidewalk during a declared snow emergency. Residents can move their vehicles to designated city parking lots once the snow parking ban is announced. Vehicles must be removed promptly from these lots at the end of a snow emergency or they will be towed.

Vehicles Parked on Streets During a Snow Emergency

Vehicles parked on streets and sidewalks are subject to ticketing and towing. An announcement will be made when the parking ban is lifted. If your car is towed it will be $169 tow fee plus a $150 ticket. There is a $35 storage fee per day that your car is held at the tow lot. It is strongly advised that you find off-street parking during a snow emergency. The tow lot is located at 40 Federal Street behind the Fire Department Headquarters at 725 Western Avenue.

Car Removal Policy

If parking ban is lifted before 9PM:
Residents have two hours to remove cars from lots.

If parking ban is lifted after 9PM:
Residents will have until 6 AM the next day to remove cars from lots.
Vehicles still in designated snow lots after that time will be subject to ticketing and towing.

Snow Permit (Pilot Program)

The Parking Department will be launching a Snow Permit Pilot Program this winter. This program would allow us to be aware of what residents are parked in the school lots during a snow ban, and more importantly, allow us to send residents email notification when their car needs to be removed from the school yard.

You must remove your vehicle from City streets during a declared Snow Emergency. The City of Lynn will indicate a snow emergency by displaying flashing blue lights at major intersections and posting on electronic roadway message boards and on the City of Lynn Webpage, as well as social media accounts. Failure to remove your vehicle will subject you to a tow and receiving a $150 citation during the snow emergency. Failure to move vehicle for plows to clear streets after end of snow emergency may result in a $100 impeding snow removal citation.

Hearing requests for violations must be requested within 21 days online at the City's Citation Portal or in writing to Robert Cronin, Administrative Hearing Officer.
