Salary
$87,079.02, plus benefits. The successful candidate may be entitled to an additional incentive based on educational attainment per the AFSCME Local 3147 CBA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Garage Supervisor shall act under the direction and supervision of the Commissioner of Public Works and Associate Commissioners and perform such duties that the Commissioner and Associate Commissioners shall decide or direct. The supervisor shall be responsible to the Commissioner and Associate Commissioners for the operation, servicing and maintenance of types of equipment controlled by the Department of Public Works, such as automotive, mechanical and electrical.

The supervisor shall have an excellent knowledge of all types of vehicles and equipment, both gasoline and diesel. The supervisor shall plan, schedule and supervise the work of the Motor Equipment Repairman-Welders and Garage personnel.

The supervisor shall have frequent contact with departmental supervisory personnel, supply houses and vendors of automotive equipment parts and supplies. The supervisor shall set up and maintain detailed records, efficiently, accurately and in a neat and orderly fashion, such as preventative maintenance program and detailed cost of maintenance and detailed departmental fleet. The supervisor shall purchase all parts and components under the authority of purchase orders issued by the department office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to perform the above-mentioned work. Must also possess a Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License at the time of appointment. A Massachusetts Department of Public Safety Hoisting Machinery License is required properly executed for the equipment involved in this operation and necessary for the successful candidate to test.
